Strategic Communications Analyst

The ideal candidate for this position has experience supporting strategic communications and developing presentations for DoD programs or related mission areas.  In this position, you will provide a broad range of strategic communications and deliverable development support services to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s (DTRA) Research and Development (RD) DTRA RD Directorate using intrinsic knowledge, experience, and the ability to independently create professional presentations and other communications by researching and synthesizing relevant information to develop precise, targeted communication products that meet government needs.  The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate exceptional communications skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced program management environment.

ARServices is seeking a Strategic Communications Analyst to work in the Fort Belvoir, VA area.

A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:
  • Work with the RD Strategic Communications Lead, Front Office staff, and departments to develop internal communications products for a variety of stakeholders within DTRA RD, DoD, and the Federal Government as well as public facing communications.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain charts, briefings, slide presentations, brochures, interactive multi-media production, and electronic presentations, while implementing quality control procedures to ensure version control, overall quality, and timely completion of communication products.
  • Analyze relevant Department of Defense strategies, policies, guidance, and regulations to develop concise communication products that achieve desired outcomes based on the needs of the client.
  • Assist in the development and review of strategic communication messages and briefs for RD stakeholders while linking high-level vision to executable operational priorities.
  • Develop presentations to create concise, visual representations of topics that address the RD Directorate’s capabilities, activities, and investments.
  • Upload and store all charts, graphic images, graphic masters, original artwork, presentations, and electronic briefings in the appropriate location with archiving tags and meta-data for ease of searching and retrieval.
  • Produce and develop materials, including formatting, editing, and writing a variety of technical articles, reports, and/or manuals for a wide range of uses as determined by the government.
  • Maintain regular touchpoints with RD Strategic Communications Lead.
  • Organize, manage, and maintain project requirements and ensure tasks are completed on time and meet RD leadership’s guidance.
  • Maintain flexible posture when responding to urgent taskings. 
Security Clearance Requirement: 
  • Active/current Secret clearance is required. 
Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree; BA in Communications, Political Science, or similar Area.
  • Five (5) or more years total experience required
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • High Proficiency with MS Office (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Must have attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be comfortable in a high-visibility, fast-paced DoD environment.
  • Must be comfortable managing and maintaining projects.
Desired Qualifications: 
  • Prior experience with DTRA and/or comparable Defense Agencies/Federal components.
  • Experience working with senior DOD officials is highly desired
  • Experience with supporting senior stakeholders and client in high-profile roles and missions
  • Experience with developing and recommending social media content for publication.
  • Experience with SharePoint
